Soundpickr update 14th Nov, 2022
Q3 has been quite a ride. We’ve been improving our product, worked on partnerships, and attended as many conferences as we could.
Today’s post will give you an overview about where we’re at.
TL;DR
- We’ve changed our product roadmap
- Solana Hacker House (Lisbon), Solana Breakpoint, NFT London and Token2049 — we got feedback, new partners and loads of new web3 connections
- All our efforts are on building the best product. Community building has changed for us
On a road to change music
As explained on a previous post, Soundpickr has changed.
At the beginning of it all, we were proud of thinking of NFTs as data — not as marketing assets. However, during a big NFT hype, we wanted to ensure we were there to support artists and their fans, so we built our own music NFT marketplace.
We’re now in the process of closing our “NFT store” and focusing on what we believe to be our superpower: data.
So, what’s new?
Most web3 games & metaverses have to spend loads of capital to produce high quality soundtracks. On top of that, metaverses & their users are using music without any permission — putting metaverses in conflict with music IP compliance.
Soundpickr has built tech that can track, report, and collect music royalties in real time so we protect games while keeping record labels & rightsholders’ music safe.
The new roadmap establishes us as the music data hub for any web3 platform.
What does the industry think about it?
Music companies love us. The idea of having tech that protects their IP and offers real-time reports is something everyone needs.
Games and metaverses understand the need for this tech and more games & metaverses are joining our partner network.
We spent most of November attending great conferences including Solana Hacker House (Lisbon), Solana Breakpoint, NFT London & Token 2049.
What was the most common feedback?
We need to offer one clear solution
We’re now focusing our platform on a single service, so we can be clearer with our comms. Our store will be closing by the end of 2022 and all music we bring to the blockchain will be available for purchase on primary & secondary market on our official partners (announcement soon).
This way, we can focus on being the most comprehensive database for music and our partners can be our storefront.
Do we have an API?
Many platforms want to get their hands on our data. We’ll be building an API to allow marketplaces, analytics platforms, and any other products to access our database.
If Soundpickr is about data, why should a game or metaverse use it?
By the end of 2022, we’ll be representing hundreds of thousands of songs in web3.
Integrating Soundpickr will future-proof any game & metaverse so they’re compliant with IP use. That way, users can have an enhanced experience by listening to their favourite songs while we protect the development studio.
Can labels create NFTs in bulk?
Absolutely.
In order to track music usage, we needed a tool that would allow labels to upload songs in bulk to the blockchain.
After some hard work, we’ve built a unique web3 music uploader that allows labels & publishers to generate millions of NFTs from millions of unique songs at no cost. Zero.
This way we can onboard as many rightsholders as possible, protect their IPs in web3, and source all these songs to metaverses at the same time.
